Annemarie has been a member of ISHLT since 1992. She started her nursing career in 1980 in Sydney, Australia. In 1985 she completed her General Nursing Certificate at St Joseph’s Hospital, Sydney and in 1988 completed her Cardiothoracic Nursing Certificate at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. In 1991, she became Clinical Nurse Consultant for the Heart and Lung Transplant Program at that hospital and with the team, coordinated the commencement of the ventricular assist device program there. Annemarie also worked as a donor and recipient transplant coordinator during this time. In 2001, Annemarie accepted a position in Vancouver, Canada as Clinical Nurse Specialist for Heart Failure and Transplantation. In 2002, she completed her Master of Clinical Nursing Degree from the Australian Catholic University. Also in that year, she coordinated the implementation of Western Canada’s first mechanical circulatory support program, which is now one of the most active programs in the country. She is an experienced writer, presenter and researcher, having been involved in multiple funded projects over the years. Annemarie has provided mentorship and supervision to many BSN and Masters students over the last 10 years from UBC, UVic, Langara and Internationally.
She is Past Chair of the Nursing, Health Sciences and Allied Health Councils for the ISHLT and chair of the Standards and Guidelines Taskforce.
